Remove Termlux

Delete the app and, if you like, everything it keeps on your Mac: workspaces, logins, hosts and keys. Your projects are never touched.

Before you remove it

  • Free the Mac's slot: Settings › Account › This Mac › Deactivate…, or later on the website, in Your Macs.
  • Keep what you need: export your saved prompts and snippets (how), and copy any SSH key made in Termlux that a server still needs.

Remove the app

  1. 1. Quit Termlux.

  2. 2. Drag Termlux from Applications to the Bin.

That's enough to remove the app. What it keeps on your Mac stays, in case you install it again.

Remove its data too

Everything Termlux keeps is in one folder:

~/Library/Application Support/Termlux/
In itWhat it is
workspaces.jsonYour workspaces and their settings, including environment variables
workspaces/Each workspace's own folder: its Claude and Codex settings and logins, chats and shell history
hosts.jsonYour SSH hosts, host groups and port-forward rules
snippets.jsonYour snippets
keys/SSH keys made in Termlux
scrollback/Recent terminal output, to restore sessions

It also holds this Mac's device ID, which is how your account knows this Mac.

Your settings, saved prompts and open tabs are kept by macOS for the app, in three more places:

~/Library/WebKit/dev.termlux.app/
~/Library/Caches/dev.termlux.app/
~/Library/Preferences/dev.termlux.app.plist

Delete these and the folder above to remove everything. In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder… and paste each path.

Keychain items

In Keychain Access, search for and delete:

  • termlux-auth: your Termlux session.
  • termlux-ssh: host passwords, one per host.
  • Claude Code-credentials-…: the Claude logins of your workspaces, made by Claude Code.

In your projects

A workspace's task board is in its project, in a .termlux folder. Delete that folder if you don't want the board any more. Worktrees Termlux made sit next to their repository, as repository--branch; remove them with git worktree remove.

Start fresh instead

To reset one workspace, delete it in Workspace settings › Danger zone. To reset everything, deactivate this Mac, quit Termlux, and delete the folders above. Then open it and sign in again.
